Q. When is the schedule published on the website?
A. Courses held at the FLDC building in Cairo University are published on weekly basis, specifically on Monday, to enroll in courses that will be held the following week.
Courses held at the Medical Center (MEDIC) are published on the website every two weeks.
Q. Where can I find more information about training courses?
A. The Academic Training Course section of this site contains details of each of the courses offered, along with training course manual and demo slides for each course. Once you fulfill a course, the course material is available in your account.

Q. What is the duration of the training course?
A. Courses are either held over 3 days; 5 hours each, from 9:00 - 2:00 and from 3:00 - 8:00 or over 2 days from 9:00 - 3:30 and from 3:30 - 10:00.
Q. What is the number of courses required for each academic promotion?
A. All faculty members have to complete a total of six training programs (3 compulsory and 3 elective) to be promoted.
Q. What are the compulsory training programs?
A. Compulsory courses include those within the “teaching and education systems” competency as well as those within the “scientific research” competency.
Q. Is it allowed to repeat the same courses for the next promotion?
A. No.
Upon registration for a training course, please take into account the selection of new courses that have not been attended for any prior academic degree.
Q. What are the steps that follow the course registration?
A. Steps are as follows:
- Print the registration form from the website
- In case of free training courses, the form should be signed by the dean of the college and or his representative stamped by the rector.
If the course is a paid course, the signature of the department chairman will suffice.
- Present the form at the FLDC information desk (and pay the fees in case it's not a free course).
Q. When is the deadline for submitting the registration form?
A. The registration form can be delivered at any time till the date of the course.
Please take into account that without the signed registration from, you will not receive your course completion certificate.
Q. Can I cancel or reschedule a course?
A. In order to reschedule or cancel your course and receive a full refund, changes must be made from your account at least 48 hours prior to the course start. Any cancellations made after the 48 hours will be charged 200 L.E.
FLDC reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a course due to low enrollment or if necessitated by other circumstances. FLDC will notify you via phone or via email before the course start date. Once notified you may reschedule or receive a full credit.
Q. How much does each course cost?
A. Each trainee has the right to attend a free training course every four months in the following periods**
From the first of January to the end of April
From the first of May to the end of August
From the first of September to the end of December
** This does not apply to those on leave/ not affiliated to Cairo University /working as a full-time professor at other universities. In such cases, a fee of 350 L.E. per course is required for Egyptians and 700 L.E. per course for Non-Egyptians.
In case of missing your free course, the cost is 300 L.E./course.
Q. I registered to attend a training course. I cannot pay the fees 48 hours prior to the course as I am out of the country. Can I pay the fees on the day of the training course?
A. Yes, you can.
Q. I Forgot my Username/ Password
A. If you forgot your password, you can insert your national ID number instead.
In case you forgot your username, visit this link: http://fldc.cu.edu.eg/id.aspx, enter your name either in Arabic or English and search for the name.
Q. I enrolled in one of the training courses and was not able to attend the first day of the course
A. If you do not attend the first training day of the training program, the whole program will be canceled and you have to pay a 200 L.E fine.
Q. I enrolled in one of the training courses and was not able to attend the second day/ third day of the course
A. Missing part of the second or third day in the training program or missing a full day entitles that a make-up session/day must be attended in the same course held during the following weeks.
Q. I enrolled in one of the training courses and was not able to attend.
A. In case of an inevitable excuse, kindly provide supporting documents and a request to be exempted from the fine. Otherwise, you are obliged to pay the fine (200 L.E).
Q. During my stay abroad, I attended courses that cover a lot of topics similar to those delivered by FLDC. What are the documents required to have these courses equaled to the courses required for my promotion?
A. Conditions and requirements for the equivalence of training programs
· The course content covered should be similar to those within the competencies approved by the Supreme Council of Universities for development of faculty members and leaders.
· The training center delivering the course should be listed as one of the follows:
ü An internationally approved training body, such as: (AUC-AMIDEAST-British Council)
ü A University abroad that has a facility for the development of faculty members, such as: (Aberdeen-Sydney-Stanford-Alaska-Texas-Cambridge)
· The date of course completion is after the date of occupying the last academic degree.
Documents required to be provided in request for equivalences
· A certification letter from the training body which issued the certificates to be equalized.
· A list of topics covered during the course.
· The original course certificate and a photocopy.
· Evidence that the training center is internationally accredited.
* The cost of each course equivalence certificate is 100 L.E/course.
Q. I lost my certificate, can I request the issue of a new certificate?
A. Yes but you need to state the date of the course (or the month and year). Issuing a new certificate will cost 50 L.E
Q. I completed all 6 courses required for my promotion. What are the necessary steps for the approval of the certificates by the center?
A. You present the certificates to your faculty Special Cadr. The Cadr will then forward the certificates to the Center for the confirmation of their validity. FLDC then sends a confirmation letter to Cairo University Special Cadr.
